Our Roots & Values

“We are the Crack Climbing Community”

Where it Began: The Wide Boyz brand was born from obsession. It started with Pete Whittaker and Tom Randall’s infamous trip to the USA, where they established the world’s hardest offwidth crack, Century Crack. What began as a personal quest to master a niche discipline turned into a global movement.

Building the Community: Returning to the UK, The Boyz began running Crack Schools. We quickly realized that climbers everywhere were hungry for crack-specific knowledge but lacked the tools and training to progress. To solve this, we designed and sold the world’s first dedicated crack climbing volumes to climbing gyms.

Listening to the Customer: By listening to our community, we expanded our volume and product range—including our industry-leading crack gloves, tape, and training tools. Everything we produce is a direct response to what our customers tell us they need to jam better and climb harder.
